Empowering Cambodian smallholder farmers to access their socio-economic rights and lead sustainable, people-centred agricultural development across three provinces.
The Civil Society Organizations for Good Governance and Green Growth in Cambodia (CSO4G) aims to improve the ability of Cambodian smallholder farmers (SHFs) to access their socio-economic rights and to hold relevant roles in sustainable people-led agricultural development.
It is a consortium 3-year project implemented by Heifer, Kundamlay, CUFA, and LHCO, and led by Heifer Netherlands. The project focuses on three priorities: increasing local Civil Society Organisations' (CSO) capacity, promoting meaningful and structural participation, and promoting a conducive environment.
To strengthen the capacity, participation and environment of farmer's organizations to function as independent actors of good governance and development, leading to the promotion of socio-economic rights of smallholder farmers in Cambodia.
Three priorities drive the project's approach to building a stronger civil society for smallholder farmers.
Increase local Civil Society Organisations' (CSO) capacity to serve smallholder farmers.
Promote meaningful and structural participation of farmers in governance and decision-making.
Promote a conducive environment for smallholder farmers' rights at sub-national and national levels.
Three objectives guide the project's work at grassroots, sub-national, and national levels.
Smallholder farmers have expanded their business and soft skills, strengthened their social fabric, and are actively participating in self-help groups at grassroots level.
Agriculture Cooperatives are reinforced to improve their sustainability, enhance their governance, strengthen provision of business development services, and advocate for smallholder farmers' rights at sub-national level.
The selected Union of SEUAC is empowered and well positioned, and advocates for smallholder farmers' rights and an inclusive and enabling environment at national level.
This project brings together civil society actors, farmer groups, cooperatives, government, and the private sector across all three provinces.
