On September 7, 2026, the Lutheran Hope Cambodia Organization (LHCO) organized and coordinated a School and Community Cleanup Campaign in Khleang Meas Commune, Bavel District, Battambang Province.
The campaign brought together approximately 120 participants, including 57 women, representing the Commune Committee for Women and Children, School Management Committees, Commune Disaster Management Committees, Village Disaster Management Groups, LHCO staff, youth, teachers, students, community members, and local authorities.
As part of the campaign, a ceremony was held to announce and hand over trash bins to eight schools, Khleang Meas Commune Hall, and Khleang Meas Health Center. The initiative also included awareness-raising sessions on proper waste management and the application of the 3Rs principle—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—to promote a cleaner environment and healthier communities.
The campaign aimed to strengthen collaboration among local authorities, schools, community committees, youth, and community members and encourage active participation in maintaining a clean, hygienic, and sustainable environment.
The activities were carried out at schools, pagodas, along canals, and other public locations throughout the community, contributing to greater awareness and collective action for environmental protection.
The program is funded by Bread for the World (BfdW) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
