LHCO Conducts Customized Training on Safe Migration and Counter Human Trafficking for AZEECON Members

The Lutheran Hope Cambodia Organization (LHCO) successfully organized a three-day AZEECON Customized Training on Migration and Human Trafficking from 23–25 June 2026 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The training brought together 25 participants representing AZEECON member organizations with the aim of strengthening knowledge, enhancing collaboration, and promoting practical actions for safer migration and the prevention of human trafficking.

Throughout the training, participants deepened their understanding of international and regional legal frameworks related to countering human trafficking. Key topics included:

• The concept and indicators of human trafficking
• The differences between human trafficking and human smuggling
• Forced labour
• Forced criminality

The training also enhanced participants’ capacity to analyze migration governance, identify migration risks, and develop effective prevention strategies. As part of the learning program, participants visited the Legal Support for Children and Women (LSCW) to gain insights into its work in protecting migrant workers and supporting survivors of human trafficking.

In addition, participants conducted a field visit to Caritas Cambodia, where they learned about protection services, referral mechanisms, and cross-border coordination, particularly in providing assistance to victims of forced criminality. The visit highlighted the importance of collaboration among civil society organizations and government stakeholders in ensuring comprehensive support for vulnerable migrants.

The training concluded with participants developing practical action plans and program interventions to promote safe migration within their respective organizations and communities. It also strengthened cross-border collaboration among AZEECON members, fostering a shared commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of migrant workers and combating human trafficking.
