On 20–21 May 2026, Lutheran Hope Cambodia Organization (LHCO), through the HRDP-GRACE Project funded by ELCA and BfdW, conducted Disaster and Climate Change Awareness Raising sessions for students from five primary schools across Sangke Satap, Rasmey Samaki, and Trapeang Cho communes.

A total of 500 students (275 girls) and 20 teachers (9 women) participated in the activities, which aimed to strengthen knowledge and preparedness for disasters and climate change.
Key learning topics included:
– Understanding disasters concepts (including hazards, vulnerabilities, risks, and disaster risk reduction).
– Learning how to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
– Enhancing knowledge of disaster risk management, disaster risk reduction, and climate change for commune councils, village chiefs, school support committees and youth.
– Understanding climate change impacts, particularly rising temperatures, and identifying practical adaptation measures.
